Description
The underground Indianapolis Catacombs are a spot not normally seen on a walking tour of Indianapolis. They are the remains of Tomlinson Hall, a large building constructed in the late 1880s. The building burned in 1958, and all that remains is now underground. Pictured here is the substructure of arches and brick pillars which were the support for the main building which seated up to 3,500 people. This site is under a popular plaza located next to the City Market building, which is still a very active place, with many small eateries and shops. The chairs in this picture I'm told were for a music group that wanted some atmosphere for their music. There are rumors of paranormal activity here, but that may be hard to prove.

Indy! I hardly know you, thanks for the over/under on the Indy Catacombs, Steve. I bet the acoustic music is great down there. Reminds me of going to Billy Goat Tavern under Michgan Ave? in Chicago. Thanks for the cool pic n story!👍
