The state bird of Indiana and six other states, The Northern Cardinal is one of the easiest to identify, the male's bright red feathers are a dead giveaway. The female has the same shape, but her colors are a more muted yellowish green. This guy was found at Ritchey Woods in Fishers, Indiana.
The northern cardinal is a bird in the genus Cardinalis; it is also known colloquially as the redbird, common cardinal or just cardinal. It can be found in southern eastern Canada, through the eastern United States from Maine to Minnesota to Texas, and south through Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala.
Hi, and welcome to my world and thanks for visiting my galleries! I am a transplanted New Englander living in the Midwest. A photograph is a moment in time that will never be back. That's what I love about this art form. My favorite time to shoot is at dawn. Favorite places are rural and natural areas. I am thrilled that I can share the beauty of this country with others. Beauty can be in many different forms, it is "in the eye of the beholder". I hope you see a few photos here that you like. If you have any requests for variations on images here I may be able to produce them. For more info you can email me at: gasstang1@yahoo.com.
